Hyderabad Spas Fighting It Legally on Massage Ban

Hyderabad Police had recently banned massage services by Spas and Salons in the city. This is to curb prostitution in the mask of massages which has become very common in the city. Top spas in the city, including a unit of Jawed Habib, have approached the High Court seeking removal of the rule.

The police department says that under the guise of massage centers, businesses are allowing cross-gender massages and some even resorting to Prostitution. The business owners are seeking a court order asking the police department not to interfere with their business as it is a protected right under the Constitution.

Until now, Police is booking cases under Immoral Traffic Prevention Act if there is evidence of prostitution. If the activities do not amount to prostitution, we book cases under City Police Act for public indecency. Now it is up to the courts to decide.
