IIT Professors Inspect Amaravati Buildings

In the process of restarting the construction of Amaravati, the government of Andhra Pradesh appointed experts from IIT Hyderabad to assess the stability of the quarters for public representatives, officials, and employees, which have remained unfinished for the past five years.

Today, the expert team from IIT Hyderabad visited Amaravati to evaluate the stability and current condition of these incomplete buildings.

Speaking to the media, Professors Subrahmanyam and Munawar Basha said that it will take more time to determine the stability and efficiency of these structures.

They stated that it is necessary to examine the present condition of the buildings, the impact of stagnant rainwater, and the current state of the construction materials.

The professors said that a detailed report would be submitted to the government upon the completion of their examination. Although they could not specify a timeline, they promised to deliver the report as soon as possible.

After Jagan Mohan Reddy assumed power in 2019, all works at Amaravati were stalled for a period of five years. Thus, many of the buildings turned into ruins and crores of losses were also incurred for the government.

After coming back into power in 2024, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has revived the capital city project and committed to completing it at the earliest.
