IIT Student Travels 2000 Km To Cast Vote: Telangana

In an inspiring example of civic responsibility, a student travelled from Guwahati to Telangana to cast her vote in the ongoing Panchayat elections. Ashwita, who belongs to Kandi in the Sangareddy district and is in her third year of engineering at IIT Guwahati, voted for the first time on Thursday.

She shared that she travelled more than 2000 km to reach Kandi, where the first phase of polling was underway. Her dedication went viral, with many people praising her for valuing her Constitutional right and setting an example for young voters.

Meanwhile, counting has begun for the first phase of the elections. Polls were held for 3834 panchayats and 27628 wards. So far, 279 Congress supported sarpanchas have won, while BRS candidates secured 45 seats. The BJP has won 5 panchayat seats, and 61 independents were elected unanimously.

The second and third phases of polling are scheduled for December 14 and 17.
