IT Department Resorts to More Ways to Fill Govt Coffers

Strange are the ways of the government. The Center is keen on increasing the people in IT net but is troubling the new Taxpayers. Those who showed a sudden spike in income when filing revised tax returns after demonetization should now prepare themselves to face scrutiny.

This news will terrify the people who are planning to start filing the returns. Only about 5000 crores were deposited under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana that was launched to give people one last chance to come clean.

Since the black money clean up and demonetization has not filled the government coffers, IT department is instructed to scrutinize the new Tax Payers if they have evaded taxes in the past so that they can be served more penalties and fines.
