India-Pak Tensions: Hyderabad DRDO Played Crucial Role

DRDO ex chairman Satish Reddy has given his opinions about the reasons behind Pakistan’s withdrawal from the war-like situation. As the DGMOs of India and Pakistan are talking over the phone on Monday to discuss issues regarding ceasefire, the ex chairman speaks of his views regarding India’s show of strength.

The DRDO chief was all praise for the fact that the weapons used in the war-like situation were mostly made in India. Satish Reddy pointed out that the missile, bombs, drones used were mostly India made.

He pointed out that one important factor that one got to see was that the exchange was air-based. He said Akash missile played an important role during the exchange.

Reddy said another factor was the development of world-class anti-drone systems which could thwart Pakistan’s drone attack.

Satish Reddy underscored the power of Brahmos missile, another indigenous product. He said it was a cruise missile that cannot be detected by radars and lauded its precision when it came to hitting the target.

The ex chairman of DRDO said the government, companies into manufacturing defence equipment and start-ups would now work on developing latest and high quality equipment for defence.

He also said that government will spend on R&D which is vital through facilities like DRDO. Our production capacity must go up to 90%, said Reddy.

The country spent Rs 1,25,00 crore was spent to produce defence mechanisms this year. In future, it intends to spend Rs 1,75,000 crore next year. The target is to make this Rs 3 lakh crores in the coming 4-5 years, said Reddy.

Also, this will give a boost to Prime Minister’s call for ‘Make for World’. Our friendly nations must be using our defence equipment in years to come as they look up to India.

We sold or exported Rs 24,000 crore defence equipment last year. The present target is to make it Rs 50,000 crore, shared Reddy. We will be realizing our dream of Viksit Bharat through our defence power, concluded Satish Reddy.
