Indian Professor Slaps Lawsuit On U.S. Colleges

Lakshmi Balachandra, a professor at Babson College, Wellesley, Massachusetts, is suing her college for discriminating against her as she was a woman of color and on academic grounds.

She claimed and accused Babson of putting her aside when it came to a higher position or according to seniority. She claimed she faced racial and gender discrimination against fellow male faculty.

Lakshmi said she had previously worked at MIT Sloan School of Management and Harvard School of Business and knew of her capacity and capabilities. She said she was shouted at by her male, white colleagues, along with other women professors.

She specifically mentioned one prof Andrew Corbett who made it a point to show her down and curtail her professional aims. Lakshmi is presently on leave to get a fellowship at National Science Foundation.
