Intl Status on the way for Vij Airport?

Andhra Pradesh government had intensified its efforts to bring the international status to Gannavaram airport. The government had prepared a market feasibility report of international air traffic from Gannavaram and sent it to the center.

The report has incorporated two studies were conducted separately by the Infrastructure Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (INCAP) and the Airports Authority of India (AAI). It revealed that the airport can generate a traffic of 12 lakh international passengers a year.

The report also suggested that the market potential of the airport will touch 20 lakh passengers by 2020. About 35,000 people traveled from the airport between April and June last year and the number almost touched the 90,000 mark during the same period this year.
