Inturi Ravikiran – a Repeated Offender?

Inturi Ravikiran’s arrest has sparked the debate about the Social Media. YSR Congress defends its employee’s Obscene Propaganda saying that it is the Freedom of Expression. But then, it is said that this is not the first time Police knocked on Inturi’s door. On 5th August 2014, Vishakhapatnam police detained him in Mahbubnagar in a case filed by then YSRCP Araku MP K. Geetha.

She complained to police that a Facebook page run by Ravi Kiran is resorting to vulgar comments and cartoons humiliating her. The Police have registered a case under Section 66 (A) of Information Technology Act-2000, section 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of Indian Penal Code and the Prevention of Atrocities against Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes-1989.

He was let off on bail after 15 days in jail. But he did not stop his abuse in social media and created another Facebook page in November 2014. We are told that back then Ravikiran did that voluntarily but seeing his effectiveness, YSR Congress hired him one and a half years ago asking him to dedicate his time totally to the party.
