In a breaking development, Chennai Super Kings have announced their new capital for the coming season of IPL. This comes as a highly unexpected announcement before the start of the season.
CSK has announced that their young batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad will be serving as the captain for the coming season.
Gaikwad will be replacing the most successful captain of CSK, and the joint most successful captain of IPL, MS Dhoni. This announcement is a shocker of sorts for Dhoni’s fans who were waiting to watch what could be the last and final season of Dhoni.
Dhoni was previously briefly replaced by Jadeja but this was a failed move and the franchise went back to nominating Dhoni as the captain again.
It has to be seen if Ruturaj Gaikwad will be a successful successor to Dhoni but what is for certain is that the expectations will be super high on him as he comes after a hugely successful captaincy run of Dhoni.
CSK will be facing RCB in the first game of the tournament which is commencing on the 22nd of this month.
