Is KCR Being Unnecessarily Overconfident?

Huzurabad by-election was necessitated following the resignation of former minister Etela Rajender, who has now joined the BJP. Having won from the constituency four times on a trot, Etela is very confident. Etela has spearheaded Telangana agitation along with KCR.

He is well aware of the TRS’s organizational strength in various districts and so, he is confident of making a dent in TRS. Meanwhile, TRS has confirmed its student wing chief G Srinivas Yadav as the party candidate. This is the first election for Srinivas Yadav.

There are worries in the TRS cadre if KCR is being overconfident by fielding a first-timer against Etela. Probably, KCR wants to send a message of TRS popularity by making a first-timer win. Srinivas belongs to the Yadava caste which forms the highest number of backward class voters in Huzurabad.

Meanwhile, Congress is yet to announce its candidate. The election commission is yet to announce the schedule for this by-election.
