IT Hub Constituency: Too Complicated

In the heart of Hyderabad, the Serilingampally constituency emerges as a battleground for the upcoming elections, showcasing a rich tapestry of contrasting narratives. This bustling urban landscape, with its glitzy skyline and traditional communities, encapsulates the complexities of modern development colliding with age-old traditions.

Amidst the towering structures and flyovers, prestigious educational institutions like the University of Hyderabad and IT hubs coexist with ancient rock formations, creating a unique blend of progress and heritage.

The constituency’s unique demographic composition, home to more than 600 IT companies and a diverse population has turned Serilingampally into a microcosm of India.

Serilingampally is one of the largest constituencies in the country. There are a total of 7,32,506 voters here. Among them 3,88,482 are male, 3,43,875 are female and 149 are others.

The votes of North Indians are estimated to be around one and a half million. There are about 2 lakh voters from Seemandhra. There are a huge number of local voters and minority voters. There is a state-wide debate on who will win in Serilingampally, home to different cultures.

The political showdown involves the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS), Congress, and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Arekapudi Gandhi, representing BRS, faces contenders V. Jagadeeshwar Goud of the Congress and Ravi Kumar Yadav of the BJP.

The three main contenders, Gandhi, Goud, and Yadav, each bring their strengths, relying on social, minority, and North Indian votes, respectively.

Financially, all three candidates represent the Kubera of their respective parties. Arekapudi Gandhi declares assets worth Rs. 44 crores, Jagdishwar Goud boasts Rs. 113 crores and M. Ravi Kumar Yadav tops the list with assets amounting to Rs. 151 crores.

While Serilingampally flaunts its progress with initiatives like the ‘She shuttles’ for working women and well-maintained parks, challenges such as urban flooding and traffic congestion persist.

The electorate, encompassing people from 29 states, demands solutions for these issues, emphasizing the need for upgraded infrastructure and last-mile connectivity.

All eyes are on Serilingampally, where the convergence of diverse cultures, economic interests, and political ideologies will determine the path ahead.
