It’s going to be expensive for boozers in T State

Telangana government had ratified the excise department’s proposal of increasing the price of beer in the state. Ordinary Beer will cost 5 Rupees more and Strong Beer will be costlier by 10 Rupees in the state from now. Telangana gets 900 Crore as income from liquor sales every month.

Out of this 40% is contributed by the sale of beers itself. Which means beers bring 360 Crore income a month. This price hike is about 10% which means the revenue will increase about 400 Crore per year for the new state.

Demand for Price hike is pending for several years now. Beer is cheapest in the United AP costing Rs 235 per case (strong beer) while it costs Rs 465 in Karnataka, Rs 335 in Tamil Nadu and Rs 325 in Kerala.
