But then, all of sudden, Perni Nani, the other day, went on to say that there is no chance of cabinet rejig.
“There is no chance of cabinet expansion. Jagan will go to the election with this cabinet only. We will win the election with this cabinet only,” Perni Nani announced.
Probably, we can now assume that Jagan dropped the plan of expanding the cabinet fearing revolt from the MLAs. Four MLAs have already defied the party denting the image of Jagan in public.
If Jagan goes to another cabinet rejig, that will rekindle dissatisfaction among those who expect a berth and will not get one.
If more MLAs join TDP due to that, it will give an indication that Jagan is becoming weak which is a bad sign before the elections.
But then, this decision of Jagan will also have negative repercussions on the party.
Ever since Jagan expanded his cabinet in April 2022, the cabinet composition looked weak. This cabinet also failed in the sole election (MLC elections) it faced after that.
Also, there were murmurs in the party itself that most Ministers are inefficient and not as vocal as they should be.
In contrast, the first cabinet registered remarkable victories in the local elections.
So, its like ‘Mundhu Nuyyi Venuka Goyyi’ for Jagan.
But if we consider Perni Nani’s version as the official version, we can conclude that Jagan chose one option.
