Jagan Bucks on Key Reforms, Telugu Film Industry Disappointed

Just before the GHMC elections, Telangana Government has announced some radical reforms for the Telugu film industry. The most important of them are flexible ticket pricing and no limit on the number of shows per day like how it is places like Mumbai and Bengaluru.

Industry welcomed this move and we could see quite a few celebrities thanking the State Government which the ruling party expected that to help in the election. What happened in the election is not necessary here but the intention is that.

On the other side, the Jagan Government in Andhra Pradesh announced a Restart Package for the industry the other day but did not touch the issues like Any number of shows and flexible ticket pricing. AP Government is well aware that such a move could affect the people and at the same time, it will have no benefit.

Mega and Nandamuri families already do have their political affiliations. Akkineni family will anyway support Jagan while the Daggubati family will stay politically neutral. So, the Chief Minister found no benefit in appeasing the industry at the cost of disappointing the cine-goers. Industry biggies have lobbied hard for the two things and are obviously disappointed. The three months power charges waiver and the loans at a discounted rate of interest (with no fine-print) did not excite the trade much.
