Alla Rama Krishna Reddy emerged as a Giant Killer in Mangalagiri by defeating Nara Lokesh in the 2019 elections. Back then, Jagan promised to make him a Minister. But for some reason, Jagan always mishandled Mangalagiri ever since 2019.
He should have made Alla a minister in the first cabinet expansion itself so that he would have strengthened himself in the constituency. Alla is a very close aide of Jagan but then, for some reason, Jagan denied him the chance and kept him away.
Meanwhile, Lokesh did not desert Mangalagiri and worked hard in the constituency, and strengthened himself.
Later, Jagan denied Alla the ticket and brought Ganji Chiranjeevi from TDP. The weavers’ community is the majority of the Mangalagiri population. The idea is to get their votes by fielding a candidate of the same community.
Alla left the YSR Congress and joined Sharmila recently.
Sources say that Jagan is not confident about Ganji Chiranjeevi as well and is looking to field former MLA Kandru Kamala in his place.
Interestingly, Kamala appeared in a Pawan Kalyan meeting last year but did not join the party.
Kandru Kamala won on a Congress ticket in the 2009 elections over her nearest rival, the Praja Rajyam Candidate.
Changing so many candidates indicates Jagan is not sure of defeating Nara Lokesh. TDP surveys say the former Minister is looking at a minimum of 25,000 votes majority in Mangalagiri.
