In April this year, Andhra Pradesh Government has imposed the rates of 2011 by bringing out an old G.O. during the release of Pawan Kalyan’s Vakeel Saab. The industry says the rates are untenable and the Monday meeting will focus mainly on this issue.
The industry biggies want the government to fix reasonable rates ahead of the release of the biggies. If the outcome of the meeting is positive, the release dates of Naga Chaitanya’s Love Story and Nani’s Tuck Jagadish will be announced on the same day.
Andhra Pradesh Government already brought an amendment to the Cinematography act allowing the Government to revise the ticket prices as and when needed on a film-to-film basis. A G.O. has been released to that extent. So, this meeting is more likely to be a formality.
Meanwhile, the industry biggies will also put forth other demands like waivering off the minimum demand electricity charges during the shutdown period, waiver of property tax for two years, and reduction in the GST.
