Jagan Government on Backfoot as Kerala Gears Up for Local Elections

Andhra Pradesh Government is vehemently opposing the Local body elections in the name of Coronavirus. Many were pointing out the Assembly elections in Bihar to debunk the Government’s claim. But Government is saying the local elections are different from the state elections and are not easy to conduct.

Now, Kerala had announced the local elections. The elections will happen in December in three phases. The elections will happen on December 8,10,14 and the results will be out on 16th. This will also be pointed out when the case comes to the next hearing in Andhra Pradesh High Court and the Government is likely to be on backfoot.

When the local body election nominations happened a few months ago, there were several reports of arson by the Ruling Party to achieve as many unanimous seats as possible. There are allegations that the Government is not in favor of conducting the elections as it feels the State Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar will work against the Ruling Party.

Also, they fear Nimmagadda will cancel the previous nominations process and will have the elections afresh.
