Jagan Jinxed Vishakapatnam?

On Sunday morning, parts of Vishakapatnam, the proposed executive capital of Andhra Pradesh have experienced mild tremors. People ran out of their homes in several areas of the city like Sagar Nagar, MVP Colony, Peda Waltair, One Town, Akkayyapalem, Kancharapalem, NAD, Gajuwaka, and Vepsginta.

According to the National Center for Seismology, it was an earthquake of magnitude 1.8. “Dear Citizens, The tremors were felt across the city around 7.14 am today. It’s requested to take precautionary steps to avoid possible earthquake impact,” Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) said in the tweet.

“In case of an earthquake-like experience, come out of houses and stay in open safe spaces. Don’t panic, Be Safe,” it also posted. However, this has given rise to a political debate on social media. Earlier while opposing Amaravati as the capital of Andhra Pradesh, YSR Congress would often mention that it is an earthquake-prone area and is unfit to be the capital.

The supporters of Amaravati now say – “Jagan and YSR Congress have successfully jinxed Vishakapatnam. Ever since they come up with this earthquake arguments and announced Vizag as the capital, multiple times tremors were felt in the city”. It’s better if political parties do not wish bad for people and cities to suit their political agendas.
