Jagan’s MAVIGUN: On Paper, Not In Action?

Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan is once again in the spotlight. His recent media interaction has triggered strong reactions, especially on social media platforms.

During the interaction, Jagan opposed Amaravati as the sole capital. Instead, he proposed a new concept called MAVIGUN, which includes Machilipatnam, Vijayawada and Guntur.

The term MAVIGUN quickly gained attention online. It became a trending topic, with many users discussing and reacting to the proposal.

However, several media seniors and intellectuals are not convinced. They are calling it a media gimmick rather than a serious plan of action.

They point out that Jagan earlier proposed the three capitals model with Amaravati, Kurnool and Vizag during his tenure. Now, introducing a different set of cities has raised questions about consistency.

Some experts argue that if Jagan was serious about MAVIGUN, he could have worked on it while he was in power. Instead, his focus was mainly on Vizag at that time.

After facing resistance from Uttarandhra regions and Vizag voters, critics say he has now shifted his stance. They believe this new proposal reflects a political change rather than a clear development plan.

Despite the criticism, it remains to be seen how Jagan will approach this idea going forward. MAVIGUN could become a key topic in future political campaigns.

The bigger question is whether Jagan will use this as a major agenda in the 2029 elections. Public response to this proposal will play a crucial role in shaping its future.
