Jayalalithaa’s Demise – Impact on Indian Politics

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s sudden demise will not only have a long lasting impact on Tamil Politics but also on the entire Indian Political arena. There is an air of uncertainty as Tamil Nadu will have to be headed by a weak and nominated leadership. O Panner Selvam earlier ruled the state but then the long shadow of Jaya will be missing to guide him.

With AIADMK not having that strong leadership, everyone within and outside the party will fancy their chances on the Chief Minister’s Seat and one can easily guess what will happen next. So, things will not be easy for the party going forward.

Also, this gives a chance for BJP to sneak peak into Tamil Politics and emerge as a force in the very important state in the South. If that happens, it will cut short the power of Regional Parties in National Politics which will prompt the nation towards a Two Parties setup.

Tamil Nadu is always a strong and stable state for investors. This political uncertainty will definitely have some implications on the state. Even though it may not sound that pleasant, neighboring states will fancy their chances to woo the investors. Next one year or so will be very crucial for the future of Tamil Nadu. But then it is next to impossible to imagine AIADMK or Tamil Nadu without Amma.
