97 Vote Before Election Day: Jubilee Hills

Ninety-seven voters in the Jubilee Hills by-election have already cast their votes ahead of election day on November 11. The Election Commission of India allowed senior citizens above 85 years and physically challenged voters to vote early from home.

A total of 103 people applied for the home voting facility. The voting process for them was conducted across two days. On the first day, 97 voters exercised their right from home, marking a first in this constituency’s election history.

Polling booth facilities were recreated at each home by 7 a.m. on the designated day. Local police and armed forces ensured security and bandobast, while the election officer, presiding officers, and assistant presiding officers oversaw the entire process.

The remaining voters participated in home voting on the second allotted day. However, two people who had requested this facility passed away before the scheduled date — one three days prior and another a week earlier.
