Standoff at Sriramapur: Kavitha Clashes with Police at RK-7 Mine

The Sriramapur mining region in Mancherial district turned into a high-stakes political battlefield this morning as TRS chief K. Kavitha attempted to lead a massive, unpermitted labor assembly at the RK-7 underground coal mine.

The event rapidly escalated into a fierce physical standoff between party workers and state law enforcement, causing significant unrest across the Singareni collieries belt.

The friction began early in the day when heavy police contingents and specialized security forces set up defensive perimeters around the entrance gates of the RK-7 incline mine.

Citing law-and-order protocols and a lack of official regulatory clearance for an industrial labor gathering, authorities completely blocked the entry points to prevent the scheduled “Bogu Baavi” underground mining interaction.

Defying the police directives, Kavitha along with an aggressive wave of local party leaders and coal union workers marched directly toward the barricades. The situation spiraled when protesters successfully pushed past the initial police line to force open the main perimeter gates.

The breach resulted in chaotic scenes, featuring intense shoving matches, heated arguments, and physical altercations between the security personnel and party loyalists before police could contain the crowd.

Following the initial clash, Kavitha launched a scathing attack against Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s administration right from the protest site. She accused the ruling Congress government of running a dictatorial police state that suppresses the voice of the working class and prevents political figures from addressing the genuine grievances of the Singareni coal miners.

This dramatic escalation marks a visible shift in regional labor politics. Having officially launched the Telangana Rakshana Sena just months ago following her split from the BRS, Kavitha is aggressively using the powerful Singareni mining belt as a base to rebuild her grassroots influence.

With local authorities resorting to preventive detentions of key union heads to restore order, the Sriramapur belt remains under a heavy security blanket as political tension continues to brew.
