Nellore YSRCP leader, ex minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy was issued notices by Podalukuru police following a case that was filed regarding illegal mining of quartz, transportation and usage of explosive materials against rules.
It was mentioned that Kakani must present himself at 11 am on Monday morning at Nellore Rural DSP office. The Podalakuru SI went to Kakani’s house on Sunday evening to give notices. As there was no one in the house at the time, they stuck the notices on the wall.
As Kakani was not available, it was said that he went away to escape police. However, his office released pictures of him celebrating Ugadi at his Hyderabad house, on social media.
It is being said that he left house as he was expecting notices due to prior information from some police.
If one goes into details, one Vidyakiran from Chennai had permission to mine mica under Rustom Mine Company at Tatiparti village in Podalukuru mandal. He had permissions for 32 acres.
As the lease ended, he filed for renewal. When the YSRCP came to power, the party leaders eyed the mica mines. Without Vidyakiran’s approval, they transported mica. This happened close to minister Kakani’s village Toderu.
At the time, Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy protested against the illegal mining and transportation. Around election time, the then DD found that 61,313 metric tonne quartz was mined illegally.
Including seigniorage charges, a fine of Rs 7.56 crores was levied and showcause notices were given. Coming back to current times, the present mining DD, Balaji Nayak, complained on the matter on March 16 at Podalukuru police station. Based on this, notices were issued to Kakani.
