In a total of 824 votes, 823 were polled and Kavitha has got a whopping 728 Votes. The Candidates of Congress (29) and BJP (56) parties lost their deposits. Since it is a Local Authorities constituency, the Ruling Party had an edge. The electorate consisted of sarpanches, ward members, municipal councilors, MPTC and ZPTC members and MLAs and MLCs.
Kavitha’s victory was clear in the first round of counting when she got 532 out of 600 votes. Nizamabad MP Dharmapuri Aravind who defeated Kavitha tried his level best to spring a surprise but all he could manage was to get more votes than the Principal Opposition Party, Congress.
On the other side, there are rumors for a long time that Kavitha would be taken into KCR’s cabinet.
