Center Waters on Telangana’s Hopes

Telangana Government has pinned high hopes on getting National Status for Kaleshwaram Project. Telangana has been demanding National Status for the Project since Andhra Pradesh has got National Status for Polavaram as a part of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act.

Union Water Resources Minister Nitin Gadkari in the Parliament confirmed that there are going to be No National Projects further and Polavaram will be the last National Project to be declared so. Telangana MP Vinod tried to ask for a clarification but was not given a chance.

Only in the North Eastern States, Center will be funding 90% and the project in the Drought Ridden Areas will be funded up to 60% but those projects are also picked up selectively. This will disappoint Telangana Big Time.
