Kavitha Withdraws Bail Petition. What’s Cooking?

In a surprising move, BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha has withdrawn the default bail petition that she filed in the CBI’s case that was filed against her.

It has been almost five months since Kavitha was jailed due to her alleged involvement in the Delhi Liquor Policy scam case. She was arrested on March 15.

She has been arrested on two cases, filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Kavitha filed numerous bail petitions in both cases but bail was denied every time.

Recently, Kavitha filed a default bail petition in Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court. Default bail will be filed by the accused, who is in judicial custody when the police fail to investigate his/her case within a specific period.

The trial was supposed to happen yesterday. But Kavitha’s lawyer requested to postpone the hearing as the senior lawyer was absent.

The judge expressed his anger at Kavitha’s lawyer for seeking multiple postponements for the trial. He later postponed the hearing to Wednesday.

When the hearing was scheduled for tomorrow, Kavitha suddenly withdrew her bail petition, surprising many.

Meanwhile, BRS MLAs KT Rama Rao and Harish Rao, who have been in Delhi for the last couple of days, will be meeting Kavitha later today at Tihar Jail.

Kavitha withdrawing bail petition ahead of her meeting with KTR and Harish Rao raised discussions among people in political circles.
