Kamal Haasan is often mired in controversies. While controversies are not new to him, Kamal Haasan does make it a point to speak his heart out.
Right now, he is entangled in the controversy that one of his remarks has gotten him into. It is known that he made the remark that Kannada originated from Tamil, during the pre- release event of Thug Life.
The furore from Kannadigas was instant, but Kamal Haasan has maintained that he stands by his remarks. Given this backdrop, Kamal Haasan is said to have deferred filing for Rajya Sabha nomination, according to sources close to him. However, he will file the nomination once he completes the promotion activities of Thug Life.
It is also known that Kamal Haasan is the founder of MNM party. The party is allied with the INDIA bloc. During the general elections last year, MNM supported the DMK-Congress alliance.
As per the tie-up, MNM campaigned for 39 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu and 1 seat in Puducherry. Following this, DMK promised a Rajya Sabha seat to MNM in 2025.
Accordingly, DMK & MNM confirmed the fact that Kamal Haasan would be going to the RS.
