Karanam Balaram All Set To Jump The Fence?

Prakasam District Senior TDP Leader, Karanam Balaram may quit the party very soon and join the Opposition YSR Congress Party. Balaram is upset with the party admitting his rival, Addanki MLA Gottipati Ravikumar into the Party.

Balaram wants the party Supremo to give the seat to his son, Venkatesh but has got no assurance. He is bargaining with Jagan for an MLC seat and Addanki Ticket to his son. Balaram was in the Congress for a long time. He shot to fame after rescuing the then AICC chief Indira Gandhi from a public attack when she toured the area after a split in the Congress in 1977.

Impressed by him, Indira fielded him from Addanki as Congress nominee in the 1978 elections, which marked his electoral debut. But later he joined TDP and very soon became a strongman of the party in the district. He is the lone TDP MLA in the district after 2009 elections and lost the last general election.
