EC Clears Kavitha’s Party, TRS Tag Stays But Name Changed?

Kalvakuntla Kavitha has received official approval from the Election Commission of India for her new political party, but with a key change in its name.

While Kavitha had initially announced the party as Telangana Rashtra Sena (TRS), the Election Commission has approved it as Telangana Rakshana Sena. The approval letter was handed over to her at her residence in Banjara Hills.

The change comes in the backdrop of objections and concerns over similarity with the earlier TRS name used by K. Chandrashekar Rao’s party before it was renamed as BRS.

Despite the modification, Kavitha is expected to retain the “TRS” abbreviation, allowing her to carry forward the political recall associated with the name while avoiding legal complications.

The naming issue had created political buzz, as the reuse of TRS was seen as a direct challenge to BRS and raised concerns about possible voter confusion.

With the Election Commission’s approval now in place, the party has cleared a major hurdle. This gives Kavitha the formal platform to move ahead with organisational expansion and political strategy.

The development is being seen as a significant step in Telangana politics, with potential to alter the existing dynamics, especially between emerging and established forces.

Going forward, the focus is likely to shift to building the party structure, strengthening grassroots presence and positioning the new TRS identity in the political space.

With the name settled and approval in hand, the real political test for Kavitha’s party begins now.
