KCR backtracks on Metro alignment near Assembly

Telangana government had decided to drop the proposal of Metro rail alignment at the Old Assembly building. With this decision, there will not be an additional financial burden on the state and will also fasten the works. Also the works already happened in the route will not go waste now.

The concessionaire, L&T resume works in the old route as soon as it received official orders from the Telangana government. Earlier Telangana government sought alignment changes with the apprehension that it may destroy the heritage buildings like Old Assembly and Gun Park where there is Telangana Amaraveerula Sthoopam.

They tried to divert the Metro rail from behind the assembly. However intelligence had reported that the new route will not be safe and that forced the government to rethink on the alignment. Anyways with this change of minds, several 100s of Crores of public money got saved.
