With an ambition of getting into national politics, former Chief Minister of Telangana, K. Chandrashekhar Rao, changed his party’s name from Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) to Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).
However, things didn’t go in KCR’s favor. BRS lost in the 2023 Assembly Elections, which eventually ruined the plans for its national entry
BRS is now struggling to survive in Telangana. Reportedly, the party’s high command is considering using the original name again instead of Bharat Rashtra Samithi.
Speaking in an interview, BRS senior leader and Karimnagar Lok Sabha contestant, Vinod Kumar, stated that 80% of BRS leaders didn’t want the party’s name to be changed. He said that they have expressed the same opinion in the recently held Parliamentary constituencies’ review meetings.
He said that the party needs legal help you change the name once again and assured that a decision will be taken right after the Lok Sabha elections.
Earlier, Ghanpur MLA Kadiyam Srihari also stated that the name “BRS’ didn’t work well for the party.
Going by senior leaders’ statements, it looks like BRS will be changed back to TRS once again.
