KCR’s Calculated Risk for National Ambitions?

A conclave of southern finance ministers began in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday after South India states are expressing their displeasure at the Terms of Reference of the 15th Finance Commission. Their argument was that the southern states would be penalized for doing better on the population control front.

Telangana Chief Minister, K Chandrasekhara Rao should have grabbed the chance with both the hands since he is planning a Federal Front, a coalition of Regional Satraps but KCR surprised all by skipping the meetings saying that the North-South divide is not good for the nation or national integration or national interest.

KCR tried a lot to muzzle the Regional parties but all of them seems to have their own ideas about that. Immediately after KCR met Mamata Banerjee, she went all the way to meet Sonia Gandhi in Delhi. So, instead of pleasing Regional Parties, KCR wants to use this opportunity to reinforce his nationalism.

Also, KCR felt that attending this conclave will strengthen the Congress hand given that both Karnataka and Puducherry are ruled by the party and KCR does not want the revival of his principal rival in Telangana in any way. This is a calculated risk by KCR for his National Ambitions.
