KCR lacks innovation in revenue creation!

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao seem to be lacking ideas of creating new income sources for the state. The Chief Minister wants the Surplus State tag for the newest state and so do not want to levy any new taxes on the people for a while. But on the other side, the budget of the state can not fund the lavish welfare schemes which his government rolls out every now and then.

With all the options closed, Telangana government is depending solely on the land sale in the state to fill the state coffers. The government is all set to auction government land and raise about Rs 14,500 crore to implement its flagship programmes and welfare schemes such as Mission Kakatiya, water grid and other welfare schemes. The district collectors recently identified as many as 12,470 acres in about 1,743 land parcels of the 10 districts of the state.

Initially government only thought of auctioning lands in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy but since most government lands are entangled in legal issues, the idea of land sale is taken all across the state. The state government is likely to start the auctions in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy first, in view of higher land value in these districts and will cover all the districts by the end of this year.
