KCR to take back Babus’ Colony!

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao seem to be in an evacuation spree. After asking the Chest hospital to vacate, he is know going to ask the All India Service (AIS) officers to move from the 14-acre sylvan government land at Punjagutta Colony. There are about 70 government quarters in the colony, all palatial independent houses.

The colony has huge demand as it is in the heart of the city. But now Telangana govenment want the officers to vacate it and hand over the land to the government. Telangana government is planning to for providing accommodation for the chief minister’s security (security personnel, sniffer dogs, chief minister convoy, including jammer and other security equipment).

There is also a proposal to auction this land for setting up shopping malls, vegetable, fruit and fish markets. There are 70 odd AIS officers and their families residing there and may well have to vacate very soon.
