KCR’s Master Plan for Votes in GHMC Backfired?

Telangana Government is distributing 10,000 Rupees to every flood-affected family in Hyderabad. The Government claims to have disbursed 370 Crore in this account so far. But then, controversies mar this scheme, and the Government has come in defense.

There are allegations that some corporators are pocketing 5,000 Rupees of the total amount that should reach the beneficiaries. In some areas, people have come on roads demanding that their compensation money is not coming to them.

A person by the name of Venkatesh attempted suicide in front of Amberpet MLA Kaleru Venkatesh’s house for not providing the amount. On the other side, the Government had decided to stop the disbursement of the cash. Those left out can receive the aid from the GHMC head office after due checks of the claims.

Telangana Government brought out this scheme keeping in mind the GHMC elections to lower public anger during the floods. Even though heavy rains lashed several parts of the state, the cash distribution was announced only for Hyderabad where the elections are due in December.
