Kesineni Nani Complicates Toughest Constituency

TDP MP Kesineni Nani is not getting on well with the other leaders of Vijayawada. There are rumors that he may be denied a ticket next time and his brother Kesineni Chinni will be the TDP candidate for 2024. Nani even skipped Lokesh’s Padayatra in Krishna district recently.

Lokesh also avoided touching the beehive and skipped announcing the candidate for Vijayawada MP.

On Saturday, Kesineni caused a stir by announcing that he would win as Vijayawada MP for the third time and create a record. He further announced that TDP leader MS Baig would be the candidate for Vijayawada West and he would win for sure.

MS Baig’s father was the Vijayawada West MLA on the Congress ticket in 1985, 1994, and 2004. He lost in the 1989 elections.

Buddha Venkanna and Nagul Meera who are acting as opposite factions to Nani are expecting Vijayawada West seat. This announcement of Nani is to corner them.

This unilateral announcement of Nani is also a challenge to the party’s high command.

Vijayawada West is such a constituency that TDP won only once since its inception. The victory also came at the height of NT Ramarao’s popularity in 1983.

TDP leaders are playing games with such a difficult constituency.

Vellampally Srinivas is the Sitting MLA of West from YSR Congress. There is severe anti-incumbency on him due to various allegations but this Group politics in the Opposition camp make him a bit comfortable.

If there is an alliance, TDP may even leave this constituency to Janasena’s Pothina Mahesh to avoid unnecessary issues.
