The first Gaddar awards have been given on Ugadi and everything went off well on the whole. But one could see that state cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkata Reddy was MIA.
So days after the awards ceremony, the issue is still being talked about. Many feel that the absence of Cinematography Minister during such a big event means something.
Congress is known for infighting. The leaders always have differences with each other and talk about them openly. Even in neighbouring Karnataka, the only other state where the Congress is in power, there is an ongoing dynamic to change CM Siddaramaiah and make DK Shiv Kumar the CM.
In Telangana, the Komatireddy Brothers are both critical of the CM. On the political front, Komatireddy Venkata Reddy has also demanded that senior Congress leader Jagga Reddy be made the PCC chief. The Minister said that Congress would get 100% seats if Jagga Reddy is the PCC chief. This hasn’t gone well with the Congress BC leaders.
In fact, Komatireddy has gone to the extent of asking that he be relieved of Cinematography Minister’s post as the CM is directly handling all matters related to Tollywood. Of course, there is the added pressure of Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy lobbying for minister’s berth.
But the CM too seems to be clear. He is giving out the message that discipline matters most in the party. He has hinted that even if a senior Congress leader creates controversy, he will be set aside.
For now, all leaders in the picture maintain that differences are common within the party and all is fine. But rumours are rife that Komatireddy Venkata Reddy is rather unhappy.
