Former Telangana Minister K Taraka Ramarao made a controversial comment the other day.
KTR took a jibe against Revanth Reddy Government’s Free Bus for Women Scheme.
The state Women’s Commission has initiated a suo motu inquiry into KTR’s comments that women traveling free in RTC buses were free to “do break dances or recording (dances)” if they choose to.
KTR had to apologize for the comments later on.
KTR and everyone in KCR’s family are good orators. During the Telangana Agitation, they made quite a few controversial remarks but then such comments at least appeased a section of the public.
But then, KTR had a slip of the tongue the other day.
Why did this happen?
Things like this happen when you have zero respect for the aspirations of the people.
You know Free Bus for Women is a very popular scheme. You know that even you can not scrap the scheme if voted to power. You also know there is no way to increase the number of buses to accommodate the rush because the previous BRS Government even threatened to privatize the RTC citing the losses.
And yet KTR chose to make such comments.
Politicians do have this problem. They talk big about their own schemes and deeds. But they stay in denial about the popular schemes of the other governments.
That is when you do loose talk like this.
The ideal scenario would be to stay calm about such popular things as you will anyway have hundreds of other issues to criticize a government.
Arrogance and Denial will not help in the Opposition.KTR should learn this lesson or BRS will have to suffer further in the Opposition.
