KTR Cruises, Jagan Nowhere!

Kitex Group, the world’s second-largest manufacturer of kids apparel has agreed to enter Telangana with an initial investment of ₹1,000 Crore. They have chosen the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park (KMTP), Warangal for their factories. This has happened after Minister KTR sent a Special Private jet to the company representatives and sat with them for a meeting.

The company has committed to investing 3,500 Crore in Kerala but had a fallout with the Government there. As many as twelve states in the country sniffed an opportunity and tried to woo the company. Telangana went a step ahead and managed to convince them for the first trench investment of ₹1,000 Crore.

Interestingly, Andhra Pradesh did not even make a pitch to bring Kitex to the state. The government which used to be proactive during Chandrababu Naidu’s regime has fallen behind in attracting investments in recent years. The state used to be in the Top-3 among the states in the country in attracting investments.

But a change in the government changed the priorities and then things like Kitex have been happening.
