KTR Applied Cinema Logic For Politics?

The exponential growth witnessed by the Telugu film industry in recent years has been remarkable. The reach of Telugu films has also been expanding consistently, with several movies finding audiences across the country.

The growth of Telugu cinema appears to have also influenced the political thinking within the BRS ecosystem. KTR recently spoke about this connection while participating in a national debate.

KTR said that the BRS took inspiration from the growing reach of Telugu cinema when it considered expanding its political presence across the country.

He pointed to the pan-India recognition of Telugu films and explained that the party felt a similar expansion could be attempted in politics. This thinking eventually led to the change from TRS to BRS and the pursuit of national ambitions.

However, the national expansion did not develop as intended. The BRS later faced a major setback in the 2023 election, leaving its national ambitions without the expected political results.

The party’s identity has also remained a subject of discussion. The BRS continues to operate under its current name, while the old TRS identity has become part of a separate political discussion.

KTR’s comments provide an interesting perspective on how the growing reach of Telugu cinema influenced the BRS’s decision to look beyond Telangana.
