HRD Minister Lokesh has kept his promise. Like always, he acted quickly and made sure that his plans for lighter school bags is implemented from the coming academic year (2025-26).

The newly designed books have reached the education resource centers in various mandals of Andhra Pradesh. It is known that Lokesh had promised during Yuva Galam that he will reduce the weight of books (bag) for school students.

Accordingly, the math, English and Telugu have been clubbed into one book and their workbooks into another for Class 1 and 2. So from now on, the students will have to carry two books. And the two books will be given each semester.

For classes 3,4 and 5, the students were carrying four textbooks and four workbooks adding up to eight books. But now, Telugu and English will come in one book and math and EVS will come in another book. The workbooks will also be provided accordingly. With this, the students will now carry four books.

The load of school bags will come down drastically, say education department officials.
