Liquor Scam: Arvind Kejriwal Gets Interim Bail

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal got a huge relief as the Supreme Court granted him interim bail till June 1. He was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials on March 21st, due to his alleged involvement in the Delhi Liquor Scam case.

The Supreme Court heard Kejriwal’s bail plea earlier today. Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, who was appearing for Kejriwal, requested the court to grant an interim bail till June 5, a day after the announcement of the General Election results.

However, Justice Khanna stated that the campaigning would end 48 years before the election results announcement and gave bail till June 1.

On the other side, the ED opposed the Supreme Court’s order saying that they could not find any earlier event where a person was given bail for political campaigning.

The magistrate said that it doesn’t make any difference if Kejriwal is “here or there” for the next 21 days. Kejriwal was ordered to surrender back to the ED officials on June 2.

Along with Kejriwal, BRS MLC Kavitha was also arrested in this liquor gate scam. She also applied for bail multiple times but was denied by the court at every instance.
