Lokpal Bill passed in Parliament

History is made in Indian Parliament a short while ago. The bill which is aimed to reduce corruption and increase transparency in the country was passed by Lok Sabha a short while ago. The bill was passed with the amendments adopted by the Rajya Sabha. Now the bill is in on its way to President of India. With his approval, the bill becomes an act. Samajwadi Party which is not in favour of the bill walked out of the house when the bill is being passed.

The Lokpal Bill for creation of an anti-corruption ombudsman. Lokpal will be set up in the center and all the states will have to set up Lokayuktas in an year’s time. Social Activist Anna Hazare who is fighting for the bill for the last few years finally is happy man. He will now call off his indefinite hunger strike.
