Since its launch, 1.5 lakh commuters (on an average) have been availing the services of Hyderabad Metro each day and officials say that the numbers are expected to remain the same for at least another month. The crowd is swelling further due to the weekend holidays. But the commuters are still struggling to come to terms with the disciplinary rules of Metro.

Quarrelling with co-passengers is a punishable offense and can attract a penalty of Rs 500, forfeiture of pass or ticket. Even Sitting on the floor can draw similar penalties and hanging around at stations for over an hour may land you in jail for 3 months with a fine.

Other offenses on the Metro include obstructing running of trains, walking on the Metro line, unlawful entry, writing or pasting on coaches. Commuters may be slapped with a fine of Rs 1,000 or imprisonment of up to 6 months if the officials are about to be removed from the coach for committing an offense and you resist.

Carrying dangerous materials and obstructing trains is the biggest offense and may attract a maximum penalty of Rs 5000 and imprisonment up to 4 years. Commuters who are not accustomed to such harsh rules are struggling to get in terms with them but the officials are making them understand.
