L&T agrees for Hyderabad Metro alignment!

Telangana government seems to have succeeded in convincing the concessionaire, Larsen and Toubro for the alignment change of Metro Rail in three places. TRS government is asking for the changing in the existing alignment of the Metro Project at the old Assembly building, Sultan Bazaar and Old City. L&T first said a rigid NO to the changes as it will escalate the cost of the project as well as the projected timelines for completion of the project.

But the political pressure worked on them and they agreed to make the changes after the government agreed to bear the costs incurred in making the changes in the meeting with L&T high level team. The Metro rail track which was proposed in front of Old Assembly building will now go from behind the Assembly building. The Sultan Bazaar which has to get evacuated due to the track is now spared and the track will go behind the Koti Women’s College. The final change is the track which passes through the old city. It will now be going in the line of Musi River side.

Most of these changes were made to please the Muslim community of the city and TRS’ alliance partner, MIM. L&T and Telangana government will once again sit together on 20th of this month to finalize the terms of this changes. L&T will be giving an estimation of costs incurred in these changes in that meeting.
