Mamata Banerjee Rolls out Raithu Bandhu

West Bengal Government has rolled out schemes similar to Telangana’s Rythu Bandhu and farmers insurance. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced schemes for farmers and laborers. Two lakh for families of those who die due to any circumstances, this includes farmer suicides too.

Also, an investment allowance of Rs 5,000 per acre/year to be given to every farmer/year. This Money is to be sourced from the Agriculture Department. Telangana Government until now gave 8000 per acre per year in two installments for each crop season and promised to increase to 10000 per acre per year. But the West Bengal Government is giving only 5000 per year.

The State Government also announced that No premium to be paid by farmers on insurance for crops and the premium money will be borne by the State Government. Telangana Government is offering Five Lakh insurance to farmers. These schemes were rolled out in the wake of rumors that Central Government is also mulling similar schemes ahead of the election year.
