Media Completely Battered by Coronavirus

The media seems to be severely battered by the Corona Pandemic. Businesses across the country shut and the movie shootings and releases held up, there is barely any activity in terms of advertising. Except for Government awareness advertisements, most of the advertising is lost.

The effect is similar across Print, Electronic, and Web Media. The problem is even more for Web Media which does not get Government Advertisements. Reports are that several media houses are offloading their staff to cut down the expenses in the coming months.

The condition of Electronic media is pathetic. They are on the frontline all the time and are more susceptible to infections. There are several such cases reported from Mumbai and Delhi. Even though Television Ratings are good, the advertising revenue registered a downward trend due to the slowed down businesses.

Along with the dip in the revenues, Print media is hit by the rumors that the papers will pass the virus easily and so almost all the papers register a huge dip in their circulations. Some of Magazines have even stopped the publications for a few weeks now. With Recession predicted, Recovery is not round the corner, many opines.
