Meira Kumar clears air on contesting Warangal bypolls!

There were speculations all over that former Lok Sabha Speaker, Meira Kumar will be fielded in Warangal bielection by the Congress party. However Meira Kumar refuted all these as baseless rumours.

“No body asked me nor I asked Congress high command ticket to contest Warangal LokSabha bypoll. Media should stop rumors on me”, Meira Kumar clarified. In the historic defeat of Congress in 2015 elections, Meira Kumar also lost her Sasaram Lok sabha constituency seat in Bihar.

Meira Kumar was in chair when Telangana bill was tabled in Loksabha. She was rigid despite the huge ruckus from Seema Andhra MPs and managed to pass the bill by blacking out live telecast of the Lok Sabha proceedings. And so Meira Kumar was considered as safe bet for Congress in the election but now it is not happening.
