Metro Rail start date delayed by an year!

The first Metro route between Nagole and Mettuguda will not be operational from March 21st as planned earlier. Hyderabad Metro was earlier planned to start in six phases and the first phase on March 21st but now Telangana government announced that the operations will begin in next year only

According to the agreement, all the metro works should be completed by December 2016. Then it was agreed to operate three phases in 2015 and remaining three in 2016. But now the government changed the operational plans of all the phases to 2016.

The concessionaire L&T even conducted the trial run in Nagole and Mettuguda route and announced it as ready for commercial operations. But government opined that the route will not be commercially viable unless it is extended till Secunderabad and so decided to postpone the operations. Also the project did not have the allowing license by Railway security to begin operations.
