Metro to be extended to Tullur!

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) which is handling the responsibility of Vijayawada Metro will take up a feasibility study on connecting Vijayawada with Thullur, the proposed capital area. It is said that DMRC is planning to construct a bridge on Krishna, connecting Vijayawada and Guntur in Phase-I of the Metro rail project to facilitate Metro for the upcoming capital.

The metro connectivity in Tullur will be considered only in the second phase. However DMRC is studying the Feasibility now itself so as to make sure the first phase design will act as an extension to the second phase.

Even though the traffic flow in the capital region is not that great now, it is expected to increase by several folds once the capital construction began and later. So the metro is planned in advance so that keeping the future uses in mind. According to Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act, Center will have to fund both the Metro Rail projects in Vijayawada and Vishakapatnam.
